The Vidyanjali Yojna, an initiative by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, fosters community involvement in enhancing government and government-aided schools. Through a dedicated online portal, it enables volunteers to contribute their services, assets, materials, and equipment to schools nationwide. The portal invites contributions from alumni, retired professionals, scientists, government officials, armed forces personnel, self-employed and salaried individuals, homemakers, members of the Indian diaspora, and various organizations. Volunteers can register and choose to contribute in the form of assets/materials or by sharing their knowledge and skills in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities.
Volunteer contributions cover a wide range of categories, including basic civil and electrical infrastructure, digital infrastructure, equipment for sports and extra-curricular activities, yoga, health and safety aids, teaching materials, maintenance and repairs, office supplies, and furniture. The initiative aims to enhance the educational experience by leveraging community resources and expertise.
